When SA Unity, a group of car clubs including the Mystic Knights, ran its annual back-to-school supplies drive to help kids in need this year, there was a new added element: The Southtown Lions donated and cooked nearly 300 hot dogs to distribute to folks as they dropped off their donations of supplies. We also gave away ice water, as the temperatures soared above 100 degrees.

Under the leadership of the Mystic Knights, SA Unity had a large turnout and collected enough supplies to help a lot of students have a good year at school. The Southtown Lions are proud to support this important cause. This is the work of Lions: We Serve.

The recently Chartered SouthTown Lions Club will hold its Charter Night at the Cadillac Bar & Grill September 8, 2011 from 6 to 9 pm. The Event will take place in the back room and is expected to be fun.

New Member and Officer Installation will take place with some surprises. There will be a Raffle with great prizes and giveaways.

It is a casual atmosphere, but dress to impress as you never know who will be in attendance.

As you may know, the Lions are the world’s largest Service Club and the top rated NGO (Non-governmental Organization) in the world and have more countries than the United Nations.

Our motto is We Serve and we have the resources to do so.

Please join us for an evening of fun, and fundraising for the newly chartered SouthTown Lions.

In late June, Lions Clubs International approved the Charter for San Antonio’s brand new Southtown Lions Club. The Charter will be presented on September 8 in a special ceremony as part of the club’s Charter Night. All Charter members will also be inducted that night, and charter officers will be installed.

The Southtown Lions Club members are excited to be a part of the San Antonio community and look forward to being of service to those in need. We extend our thanks to our sponsoring Lions Club, the San Antonio Northside Lions Club and to our Guiding Lions, Sam Pantusa and Ernesto “T.J.” Tijerina, for all their support and guidance.
