Become a Lion

Founded in 1917 with the motto “We Serve”, Lions Clubs International is the world’s largest service club organization with nearly 1.4 million members in 45,000 clubs in over 200 countries and geographic areas. Lions are men and women who volunteer their time to humanitarian causes, who strive to make a difference in their local communities as well as communities worldwide: conducting vision and health screenings, building parks, supporting eye hospitals, awarding scholarships, assisting youth, providing help in the time of disaster and much more. Their volunteer efforts go beyond the effort to eliminate blindness supporting eye health and vision care, to addressing unmet health and education needs worldwide.

What will I do as a Lion?

  • Be a part of a worldwide organization carrying out community and humanitarian projects. Members allow Lions clubs worldwide to carry out its many community and humanitarian programs.
  • Develop relationships with both local and international community and business leaders.
  • Grow personally and professionally by participating in our programs, community service projects and events.
  • Gain an understanding and have an impact on local and international humanitarian issues.
  • Make a difference everyday in your community. Whether it is providing support locally or reaching out internationally, you will have an opportunity to serve.

How do I join?

You become a Lion by invitation from a local club. Visit Lions Club International’s club locator form to find out who your local club may be, contact our club president at, or contact any Southtown Lion. You can also download our club application form, and bring the completed application to one of our club meetings. We meet on the first and third Tuesdays of the month at 6:30 p.m., Madhatters Tea House and Café, 320 Beauregard Street, San Antonio. (Map) Meetings are open to the public and everyone is welcome.
